Former Presidential Candidate Debuts Brand New Political Blog
Charles Jay, the Personal Choice Party's 2004 candidate for President, has joined the blogging set."The Charles Jay File", which debuted on November 8th through the facilities of Blogger.com, has been established for the purposes of offering "commentary on politics, society and pop culture".Jay, who appeared on one state ballot (Utah) in the 2004 election and ran a write-in campaign in others, is a strong advocate of using the internet as a means of galvanizing support behind issues and offering a forum by which concerned citizens can air and share views. The blog was a step in that direction."I really didn't have time to do it during the campaign that recently concluded," he said, "but there's no question that having a blog allows for a lot more instant interactivity and comment, relative to the posting of my opinion. I'm looking for that kind of feedback, and wanted to reach out to people who want the opportunity of availing themselves of political alternatives. There's no question there's a lot to be learned from the give-and-take atmosphere of such a discussion."Is this a precursor to another presidential run in 2008? Jay says he hasn't committed to that yet. "It's a lot of work, and deserves a

lot of thought, but there really isn't a whole lot of time to decide," he says.

"If you're in a third-party movement, you've got to get the ball rolling a lot earlier, because you're not going to have the advantage of a lot of staff or a lot of money like the major parties. Building a foundation is extremely important. If I make the decision to run, the blog and the following we hope to develop may be a very pivotal factor in generating some interest."In the initial blog entries, Jay deals with the after-effects of the election and the resignation of New Jersey governor James McGreevey. He pledges that no burning political issue will be ignored. And he won't hesitate to venture into more expansive territory as well."For example, the scandal at Ohio State with football player Maurice Clarett - that's largely a sports story, but it also affords the opportunity to comment on young people, education, fame, and societal values," he says.

"In a sense, when you're talking about conflict, everything is political in some way.""The Charles Jay File" can be accessed by going to Charles Jay's website - http://www.charlesjay.com..
